Leave Policy Summary
Annual Leave
-
You are entitled to 13 paid leave days per calendar year:
-
10 standard leave days
-
3 additional days (in place of sick leave and usable for sick, emergency, or annual leave)
-
-
Leave is granted in full after completing 3 months probation, not accrued monthly.
-
If you start mid-year, leave is pro-rated at 1.08 days per month until December.
-
You also receive 2 paid HOPLA holidays on December 24 and December 31.
Eligibility and Usage
-
Leave becomes available after 3 months of service.
-
All leave requests must be submitted via the portal and approved by your manager.
Leave Accrual and Leave Debt
Although your annual leave is granted in full after probation, it is earned monthly at a rate of 1.08 days per month over the calendar year.
This monthly accrual is used to calculate your leave balance if your contract ends early.
-
If you leave partway through the year, your earned leave is calculated based on:
-
1.08 days × number of completed months worked
-
-
If you have used more leave than you have earned at the time your contract ends, the difference is considered leave debt.
-
Any leave debt will be deducted from your final pay at your applicable daily rate.
Example:
If you have worked 6 months, you will have earned approximately 6.48 leave days.
If you have used 8 leave days, the excess 1.52 days will be deducted from your final pay.
This ensures leave is managed fairly and consistently for everyone.
Carryover and Payout
-
You may carry over up to 3 unused leave days to the next calendar year.
-
These must be used by the end of Q1, otherwise they are forfeited.
-
-
Any unused leave beyond the carryover limit may be paid out at your daily rate.
-
All unused leave not carried over is paid out in full at year-end.
-
There is no limit to how many leave days can be encashed at year-end.
Public Holidays
-
You are entitled to Australian NSW public holidays as paid holidays.
-
This is in addition to the 2 HOPLA holidays (December 24 and 31).
-
If a forced Christmas closure occurs, it will be paid at your daily rate.
-
Closure dates vary yearly and are not guaranteed.
